Darryl Hartman (March 10, 1966 – December 16, 2023)

Darryl Hartman (March 10, 1966 – December 16, 2023)

Darryl Larry Hartman passed away on December 16, 2023 at 57 years of age. He was born on March 10, 1966 in High Prairie, Alberta to Hazel and Bud (Lorne) Hartman.

Darryl grew up around the Eaglesham area. In his younger years he played hockey, rode bulls, and worked on the drilling rigs.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. No one could outdo Darryl with a good story as he had the gift of gab. He was loyal to his friends and loved his family.

Darryl farmed with his son, Austin, and daughter-in-law, Marlee. He raised registered Simmental cattle, even though he never sold a bull. He loved his Border collies and Siamese cats. He grew some grain and turnips for his elk. In the fall, Darryl could be heard bugling elk along the riverbanks. Elk hunting was not only a passion; it was what he loved. And he was truly “The Legend” with the lucky horseshoes.

Darryl was excited to know he was going to be a grandpa. He definitely was the Myth, the Legend, and the Bad Influence.

Darryl lost his wife and two sons in 1997 and is now reunited in Heaven with them once again.

Darry will be sadly missed by his son, Austin and daughter-in-law Marlee, stepfather Vern Pillsworth, brothers Murray (Leanna), Ashley (Kimberley), sisters Casey (Blaine), Shona (Bryce), and Rhonda, his nieces and nephews Tucker (Stephanie), Lane (Kiera), Taten (Jaylin), Bailey, Keeley, Taylor (Erica), Bryce, Tad (Laura), Chelsea (Jonathan), Riley, Keifer, Kyra, Josh, and Sydney.

Darryl was predeceased by wife Carol Hartman, sons Quinton and Dustin, grandparents Vivian Stemke and Lorne Hartman, Francis and Bill (William) Farmsworth, Albert Potrate, parents Hazel Pillsworth, Bud (Lorne) Hartman, in-laws John and Shirley Skrepnek, uncles Larry, Greg, Bruce, and Albert.

A Celebration of Life will took place on December 30, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Tangent Community Hall.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations made in Darryl’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, 9805 97 Street, Grande Prairie, Alberta T8V 8B9 or the Canadian Mental Health Association (www.gpcmha.ca/donate)
