Timothy John Stone (March 9, 1955 – October 24, 2023)

Timothy John Stone (March 9, 1955 – October 24, 2023)

Timothy “Tim” John Stone passed away peacefully at his home in Grand Forks, BC on October 24, 2023.

Tim was born to Alex and Gunhild Stone on March 9, 1955 in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Tim is survived by his wife Natalie; by his children David (Alison), Rachelle, Garth (Misty), and Glenn (Julie); by his wife Natalie’s children Tasha, Sam, and Christian; by his grandchildren Leon, Eli, Grace, Emma, Ezra, Claire, Evelyn, Lucy, and Caleb; by his siblings George (Carolyn) and Linnea (Don) as well as by several nephews and nieces; cousins; and many friends.

Tim was predeceased by his parents Alex and Gunhild, his first wife Debra, and Natalie’s daughter Desiree.

Tim grew up in Alberta and settled in Silver Valley after marrying Debra Fox. They raised their family there and were very active in the community.

Tim farmed, did janitorial work and oilfield vegetation control, coached hockey, and drove to countless tournaments. He filled out government forms and did taxes for many, served as church treasurer, and served on several boards, including Savanna Lighthouse Assembly, Spirit River School Division, Savanna Ag Society, Saddle Hills County, and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. Tim’s most high-profile work was as reeve of Saddle Hills County, a role that he filled for several years.

After Deb’s death in 2013, Tim moved to Grand Forks. He married Natalie Zmurchyk and spent his retirement years doing extensive travelling and building a whole new network of friends. The result of time spent at seniors’ crib, the Gospel Chapel, and pretty much every one of the local coffee shops, has been a wealth of friendships.

We will miss Tim’s kindness, generosity, interest, humour, and encouragement.

A celebration of life will take place at the Savanna Rec-Plex on Saturday, November 25, at 2:00pm.
